Streiff Capitol offensive player of the year

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights were honored with 15 all-conference selections after a second-place finish in the Capitol South this season.

Leading the charge was junior wide receiver Nathan Streiff — a first-team pick and the league’s offensive player of the year.

Also nabbing first-team honors were senior running back Conner Siegenthaler and junior linemen Jaxson Darrow and Deven Vasquez on offense, plus Streiff and Darrow on defense. Siegenthaler was also a first-team pick as kicker, and senior Josh Wieser was a first-team selection as a specialist.

On the second team. Knights selections included Darris Schuett (senior WR), Reece Rufer (senior OL), Matthew Zierl (senior ILB), Cole Walter (junior DE) and Siegenthaler at punter.

Junior Mason Martinson was honorable mention at QB, while senior Robert Chenoweth was an honorable mention pick at outside linebacker.

Cambridge won the conference with an unblemished 4-0 mark. New Glarus-Monticello was 3-1. The Glarner Knights move to the Southwest Wisconsin Conference in 2020 for football.


Trailways-Large Football

ORFORDVILLE — Luke Schwengels was Parkview-Albany’s lone first-team all-conference selection in the team’s final year in the Trailways-Large Conference.

Schwengels, a junior, was selected as a first-team offensive lineman and a second-team linebacker.

Gage Everson, a junior lineman, was a second team pick on offense, while senior linebacker Nevin Crane was a second-team pick on defense. Senior defensive back Maverick Kundert was an honorable mention.

Parkview-Albany went winless in six league games this fall and finished 1-8 overall. Horicon-Hustisford won the Trailways-Large (6-0). Markesan’s Bryce Friday was the offensive lineman of the year in the league, while QB Dylan Schmitt of Horicon-Hustisford was the offensive player of the year. Friday was also the defensive lineman of the year, with Horicon-Hustisford linebacker Zach Kehl the defensive player of the year.
