Seffrood, Stietz honored in Six Rivers

MONROE — The Six Rivers recently released its all-conference results, where Black Hawk-Warren’s Owen Seffrood and Brady Stietz received Player of the Year honors. Seffrood was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while Brady Stietz earned both Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Seffrood was the top running back for Black Hawk-Warren, compiling 1,565 yards on 190 carries for an average of 8.2 ypc. He scored 29 touchdowns with 13 2-point conversions. Seffrood was also a semifinalist for the WisSports.net Elroy “Crazylegs” Hirsch Award, given to the top senior running back in the state. Defensively, Seffrood was a first-team safety. He recorded 53 tackles with two interceptions.

Brady Stietz blocked for Seffrood and had a major impact on the defense. He totaled 58 tackles with 11 of them for a loss. He recorded three sacks, recovered one fumble and hauled in one interception.

Teammates Piercen Mahoney, Will Stietz, Bryce VanRaalte, Beau Bredeson and Beau Podnar also earned first-team all-conference.

Mahoney was the No. 2 running back for the Warriors. He compiled 932 yards on 100 carries for an average of 9.3 ypc. Mahoney scored 10 touchdowns with six 2-point conversions. Will Stietz was a two-way first-team selection. Defensively, he led the team with 76 tackles and four sacks.

VanRaalte recorded 32 tackles with one sack, one fumble recovered for a touchdown and a forced fumble. Bredeson tallied 38 tackles, four of which were four a loss. At safety, Podnar led the team with seven interceptions, including a pick-6.

Four other Warriors were recognized by the conference either on second-team, honorable mention or sportsmanship team.

Black Hawk-Warren finished 6-1 in league play, falling to Potosi-Cassville. In the first level of playoffs, the Warriors and Chieftains clashed again. Potosi-Cassville, eventual Division 7 state runners-up, won 7-6.

Ike Waage was the lone first-team all-conference selection for Pecatonica-Argyle. He recorded 38 catches for 873 yards with five touchdowns — all team bests. Waage was also a semifinalist for the WisSports.net Al Toon Award, given to the top senior wide receiver in the state.

Charles Anderson and Luke Leonard were also recognized by the conference.

Pecatonica-Argyle finished 2-5 in league play with wins over Riverdale and Boscobel. With a sub .500 conference record, the Vikings did not qualify for playoffs.
