Roth hits OT game-winner

MILWAUKEE — The big stage calls for big plays and players, and New Glarus’ Matt Roth answered the call in his team’s 71-69 overtime win against Dodgeville Dec. 21 at the Milwaukee Bucks’ Fiserv Forum.

The junior, who finished with 10 points, hit the game-winner with 4.2 seconds left to secure the win for the Knights. Roth was one of four players in double figures, including Breckyn Thompson (19 points), Charlie Sarbacker (16) and Nolan Julseth (14). 

The Knights were 2-1 on the week with a 78-71 win over Poynette on Dec. 20. 

MONROE 77, 

DELAVAN-DARIEN 41

DELAVAN — The Cheesemakers dominated the inside game against the Comets in a Rock Valley-Valley conference game Dec. 20. Monroe scored 46 points inside the paint and outrebounded Delavan-Darien 40-29.

Three players finished in double figures, led by Mekhi Brown with 20 points. He was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc with five assists and five deflections. JJ Meyer scored 18 points with six rebounds, while Marcus Ott chipped in 11 points with a team-high nine assists. Max Hayden grabbed six rebounds.


BRODHEAD 81, 

BIG FOOT 64

WALWORTH — Seniors Cullen Walker and Gabe Bockhop had the hot hands in a Rock Valley-Rock conference win Dec. 20. The pair combined for 51 points and 10 threes. Brody Riese was the third Cardinal in double figures with 10 points. As a team, Brodhead shot 14 of 17 from the free-throw line.


MONTICELLO 54, JUDA 46

JUDA — The Ponies overcame a three-point deficit at halftime to defeat the Panthers in a Six Rivers East game Dec. 19. Had Juda maintained the lead, it would have been the team’s first conference win since 2022.

Although stats for the game are incomplete, Alex Roe was the leading scorer for Monticello, while Jayden Brown led Juda.
