Evansville sweeps DH against Monticello-Albany

ALBANY – An 8-run third inning by Evansville helped the Blue Devils drop Monticello-Albany to 13-4 in nonconference baseball on Tuesday, May 27. 

The Space Stallions had a 2-1 lead before the Blue Devils came up with their big third inning. Senior Cody Pryce was 3x3 with two doubles, a walk, and a run scored. Sophomore Tyler Constantini also had a double, a walk, and a run scored. Sophomore Milo Smith got a hit and drove in two runs while sophomore Ty Durtschi was 1x3 with a walk and scored a run. 

In the other game of the doubleheader, Evansville won 6-1 in four innings.

The Space Stallions are a No. 9 seed in the regionals and were set to travel to No. 8 seed Benton-Shullsburg for a regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 29.


Vikings walk off Heights

BLANCHARDVILLE — Senior Trevor Doescher scored from second base on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Pecatonica a 4-3 win over Wisconsin Heights in nonconference baseball on May 27. 

Right fielder Levi Krebs went 2x3 and drove in three runs for the Vikings (12-12). First baseman Charles Anderson was 1x4 with a run scored. Starting pitcher Austin Enloe went the distance and allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits, three walks, and struck out five to get the win. 

The Vikings are the No. 5 seed in the Division 4 regional and host No. 12 seed Williams Bay in a regional quarterfinal on May 29.


Edgewood routs Belleville

MADISON — The Crusaders defeated Belleville by mercy rule in their nonconference game May 27 to wrap up the regular season. Edgewood scored two runs in each of the first two innings, added another in the third and a seven-spot in the fourth put the game away.

Austin McKinley had a triple for Belleville, while Logan Derke had a double, a steal, an RBI and run scored. 


Redbirds lose nail-biter to Eagles

FENNIMORE — Darlington had an answer nearly every inning against Fennimore on May 27, but scoring five combined runs in the sixth and seventh innings just were not enough, losing 12-11.

Maddox Goebel had three hits and scored four runs for Darlington, while teammate Zeke Zuberbuehler had two hits and four RBIs. 


NG stifles Beloit Memorial 8-2

BELOIT — The Glarner Knights scored a nonconference win in the regular season finale May 27, beating Beloit Memorial 8-2. Braden Rear and Ethan Colstad each had two hits for the Knights. Andrew Pulvermacher pitched a gem over six innings, allowing one earned run.
