Redbirds split with ranked Pointers

MINERAL POINT — Darlington walked out of Mineral Point with a split against the No. 13 Pointers on April 25. The Redbirds won the opener 8-5 and fell in the nightcap 4-2.

Darlington scored two runs in four of seven innings to secure the win. The offense, which pounded out 13 hits, made up for eight errors in the field.

Maddox Goebel, Breylin Goebel, Reagan Jackson, Zeke Zuberbuhler and Dante Glendenning tallied two hits each. Gage Banfield drove in two runs and picked up the win. He gave up two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched, striking out four.

In the second game, Darlington couldn’t overcome its seven errors. The offense also dipped, recording three hits. Tye Crist was responsible for two of them and also drove in a run. Jackson suffered the loss, giving up four unearned runs on five hits.


MONROE 10, WHITEWATER 0

MONROE — The Cheesemakers capitalized on nine Whippet errors in a RVC game on April 25. 

Eli Schaefer and Cole Meighan were 2-for-3 with one RBI each. Keegan Dahmen drove in a team-best three runs. Ethan Rosenstiel earned the win, allowing one hit in two innings. He struck out four and didn’t issue a walk. Ian Berg pitched two hitless innings and struck out two. 


PECATONICA 16, 

ARGYLE-BLACK HAWK 2

ARGYLE — The Vikings’ top four hitters let loose in a mercy-rule victory against the Orioles on April 25. Tyler McKeon, Jameson Johnson, Elijah Knutson and Carson Kurschner went a combined 11-for-13 with three extra-base hits and eight RBIs to propel No. 10 Pecatonica.

Austin Enloe picked up the win, pitching all five innings. He gave up two earned runs on four hits and struck out six.

Will Helfvogt accounted for two of the team’s four hits and scored one run. He suffered the loss on the bump, giving up all 16 runs. He struck out two and walked three.


BRODHEAD-JUDA 8, EDGERTON 5

BRODHEAD — Crooked numbers in the first and fourth innings helped the Cardinals in a RVC victory over the Crimson Tide on April 25.

Clayton Elliott reached base in all three plate appearances. He went 1-for-1 with two runs scored, two RBIs and two walks. Gabe Bockhop accounted for two of the team’s six hits.

Evan Senobe earned the win, giving up three earned runs on five hits. He struck out six and walked three. Parker Vanderpahl recorded the save, giving up one run in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
