DARLINGTON — The Redbirds closed out their conference championship season with three first-team all-conference selections.
Seniors Stryker Fitzsimons and Trae Schilling, as well as sophomore Carter Lancaster were named to the SWAL first-team. Fitzsimons and Lancaster were tied for sixth in the league in scoring at 15.0 points per game, while Schilling, a guard known for his defense and ball control on offense, averaged 6.0 ppg. Fitzsimons will play at UW-Platteville next season.
Redbirds coach Tom Uppena was the coach of the year, guiding his team to a 13-1 record in league play, finishing two games ahead of Mineral Point in the SWAL standings.
Pointers junior Isaac Lindsey, a DI recruit with eight official offers, was named player of the year after averaging a league-high 20.5 ppg.
Six Rivers East boys all-conference
BLANCHARDVILLE — The Vikings had four all-conference players, including two first-teamers. Pecatonica senior Colton Schraepfer (16.1 ppg) was named the league’s player of the year, and fellow senior Jaden Hendrickson (17.0 ppg) joined him on the first-team.
Seniors Zach Eaton (7.5 ppg) and Carter Ruegsegger (8.6 ppg) were honorable mention for the Vikings.
Pecatonica finished one game behind Barneveld for the league title. Barneveld senior Malcolm Reed (16.4 ppg), Black Hawk senior Conner Meyer (18.3 ppg) and Monticello sophomore Pete Gustafson (18.0 ppg) were also first-team players.
Second-team all-conference nods went to Black Hawk senior Colby Argall (15.9 ppg), Albany senior Josh Dahl (14.9 ppg), Argyle junior Gavin Johnson (12.7 ppg), Monticello junior Reece Rufer (13.6 ppg) and Barneveld senior Dayne Evans (14.6 ppg).
Albany seniors Corbin Kelley and Jamison Stauffacher were honorable mention, as was Monticello senior Jeffrey Ace, Black Hawk’s Kyle Lovelace, Juda’s Quinton Kammerer and Barneveld’s Trey Gordon. Barneveld coach Tyler Sullivan was named league coach of the year.
Rock Valley boys all-conference
BRODHEAD — Cardinals senior Dawson Van Whye was the only Brodhead player selected to any of the 30 all-conference spots.
Van Whye was named honorable mention in the Rock Valley. Van Whye was 19th in the conference in scoring at 11.0 ppg, just behind sophomore teammate Cade Walker, who averaged 11.3 ppg in 23 games.
East Troy junior AJ Vukovich was named the conference player of the year after averaging a league-high 26.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game for the state-bound Trojans.
East Troy finished unbeaten in league play (18-0) and had five players selected to various all-conference teams. Trojans coach Darryl Rayfield was named coach of the year as well.
Brodhead finished 3-15 in league play, which was ninth out of 10 teams.
