BELLEVILLE — The Raiders blew out Columbus Tuesday 10-0 thanks to four goals by Jack Gentilli.
Sugar River (10-1, 7-0 Capitol) wasted no time getting on the board, with Charlie Douma finding Gentilli in the fifth minute for the first score. In the 16th minute Gentilli scored again, this time off of an assist from Connor DeLorme.
Tyler Lueschow made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute and Douma got in on the scoring action after an assist from Cole Kleiboer in the 25th minute. Gentilli capped his hat trick in the 35th minute to make it 5-0 Raiders before Bryson Jelle found Breckin Faber for the last score of the first half in the 43rd minute.
In the second half, Gentilli scored in the 47th minute off of a pass from DeLorme with Owen Odegard and Douma netting goals in the two minutes following off of assists from Justin Knoebl. In the 81st minute, Douma returned the favor by assisting Knoebl’s goal, which capped the scoring for the night.
Columbus (5-11-3, 1-5-1) managed just three shots on goal all night while the Raiders pounded 44 shots — including 21 on goal.
“Very strong performance by the Sugar River Raiders,” Sugar River coach Kyle Webber said. “The boys did a good job of possessing the ball for the majority of the game. We took quality shots on goal and were about to bury our chances. Great Conference win.”
The Raiders were scheduled to play at Lodi (7-5-1, 2-3-1) Thursday and host Lakeside Lutheran (6-6, 4-3) Oct. 9.
