BELLEVILLE — Hosting its annual Raider Sramble, Sugar River finished second of nine teams on Dec. 14 with three individual champions — Trei Udelhoven, Blake Endres and Cayson Helwig.
Endres (126 pounds), ranked No. 1, was 4-0 on the day with two pins, one tech fall and a 4-1 decision. In the championship match, he faced fourth-ranked Rhet Spurley of Dodgeville.
Helwig (165) went 5-0 on the day with four pins and a 12-1 major decision. In the championship match, Helwig defeated Joe Rufenacht of Monroe.
Udelhoven (190), ranked No. 12, went 3-0 with three pins. His quickest match lasted 59 seconds.
Sugar River also had three runners-up in Ashlin Mihlbauer, Ryker Swenson and Garrett Pauli. Mihlbauer (150) lost by 22-5 tech fall to Belmont-Platteville’s Tyler Kisamore. Swenson (175), ranked No. 6, lost in sudden victory to Belmont-Platteville’s Kadyn Davis, ranked No. 9. Pauli (215) fell to Belmont-Platteville’s Mason Mandurano by a 12-0 major decision. Mandurano is currently ranked No. 12.
Monroe finished third with 147.5 team points, including individual champion Carson Menehan. Menehan (138), ranked No. 8, went 4-0 with two tech falls, a 1-0 decision and sudden victory over Belmont-Platteville’s Oliver Harcus.
The Cheesemakers also had four runners-up in Rufenacht, Owen Voegeli, Noah Schuh and Braedyn Nally. Rufenacht fell to Helwig 12-1. Voegeli, ranked No. 2 at 113 pounds, went 1-1 with a loss to Dodgeville’s Shane Rochon, ranked No. 1 at 120 pounds. Schuh (120) went 3-1 with a loss to Belmont-Platteville’s Aiden Wiegel. Nally (157) went 3-1 with a 6-2 loss to Belmont-Platteville’s Mason Oellerich.
Brodhead-Juda finished seventh of nine teams with 53 points and one individual champion in Thomas Lohmar (106). He pinned both opponents to improve his record to 5-2.
