Pecatonica senior outfielder Evan Prust was named the Six Rivers East Conference Player of the Year recently. Prust hit .314 and was one of six players for the Vikings named first team all-conference. Pecatonica won its fourth straight conference title this spring.

MONROE — The honors keep rolling in for the Pecatonica baseball team as six players were named first-team Six Rivers All-Conference recently.

Pecatonica senior Evan Prust was named the Six Rivers East Conference Player of the year and was first team all-conference as an outfielder. Prust also played a vital role as one of the Vikings’ top two pitchers. He hit .314 with 18 RBIs this season.

The other first team all-conference players for the Vikings include junior Lane Busser (outfielder), junior Colton Schraepfer (infielder), junior Everett Johnson (utility player), junior Carter Ruegsegger (pitcher) and sophomore Bo Hendrickson (utility player). Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen was named the conference’s coach of the year.

Pecatonica (19-6) won the Six Rivers East for the fourth straight year and advanced to the WIAA Division 4 sectional for the third consecutive season.

Busser led the Vikings in hitting (.474) and had a team-best 34 RBIs. Schraepfer hit .387, knocked in 14 RBIs and had 21 stolen bases. Johnson hit .353 with 14 RBIs and Hendrickson hit .361 with 19 RBIs. Ruegsegger posted a 5-1 record as a pitcher with a 2.32 ERA and three saves.

Pecatonica head coach Jim Strommen was named the Six Rivers East Conference Coach of the Year recently after leading the Vikings to a fourth-straight league title and a berth in the sectional playoffs.

Argyle had five first team all-conference players. Argyle sophomore Miken Godfrey was named all-conference at pitcher and senior teammate Brent Ritschard earned the same honor at catcher. The other first team all-conference players for the Orioles include sophomore Gavin Johnson (infield), sophomore Mason Waage (utility), sophomore B.J. Penniston (utility).

The other first team all-conference honorees are Black Hawk senior Jason Treuthardt (infielder), Barneveld senior Jacob Slaney (infielder), Barneveld senior Dunacn Schult (outfielder) and Monticello-Albany senior Travis McCoy (utility).

Black Hawk had four players receive honorable mention all-conference including senior Brody Milz (catcher), junior Rece Shelton (outfielder), sophomore Avery Baumgartner (outfielder) and senior Noah Metz (outfielder). The three honorable mention players for Argyle include freshman Clay Ritschard (utility), senior Josh Lehman (outfielder) and junior Mitch Flannery (pitcher).

Two Pecatonica players who received honorable mention honors are sophomore Zander Brunker (infielder) and senior Cory Swenson (outfielder). Monticello-Albany senior Braden Gafner (utility) and junior Corbin Kelley (infielder) also received honorable mention recognition.
