Pecatonica falls to Barneveld 3-1

BARNEVELD — In a battle for first place in the Six Rivers East Conference, Barneveld came out victorious, 3-1, on Thursday, Sept. 7. The Eagles took the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18. Down to their last chance, the Vikings won the third set 25-23 before Barneveld won the fourth set 25-17 for the match win.

Loretta Tisch led in aces (4) and digs (24), while Anna Tisch paced the Vikings in kills (8) and assists (14). Madelyn Cleary and Mikaela Gross tallied two blocks each.


ALBANY 3, ARGYLE 1

ALBANY — After dropping the first set 25-18, Albany rebounded to win the next three sets 25-21, 25-18, 25-13 for the match victory on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Alana Durtschi contributed 20 kills and five blocks. Ellie Modaff distributed the offense with 26 assists, while Avary Briggs served up four aces and dug out 14 balls. 

For Argyle, Kylie Butler tallied 10 kills. Avari Steiner, Sadie Steiner and Mya McNett recorded 20, 16 and 15 digs, respectively. Ava Wiegel distributed the offense with 22 assists. 


MONTICELLO 3, BLACK HAWK 1

SOUTH WAYNE — Following a tight 25-21 set one loss, Monticello fired up to take the next three sets 25-14, 25-8, 25-15 for the win on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Jaden Zuber led the Ponies in serves. In kills and attacks, Dalana Trumpy and Jillian Ryan paced the team. Sadie Wilkins contributed the most assists, while libero Danica Altman led in passing.

For Black Hawk, Veronica Cheatham and Peyton Downing tallied three kills each. Cheatham also led the team with five blocks. Makayla Kammes paced the Warriors with seven assists and two aces. Allyse Troemel also served up two aces.


BRODHEAD 3, TURNER 2

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals took a two-set lead on the Trojans but ended up needed five sets to defeat their Rock Valley opponent on Thursday, Sept. 7. Brodhead won the first two sets 25-12, 25-19 and the fifth set 15-11. Turner took the third and fourth sets 25-17, 25-17.

Addison Yates and Brenley Jones contributed 13 and 12 kills, respectively. At the net, the two were a large presence with a combined five blocks. Allie Dahl paced the Cardinals in both aces (5) and digs (22), while Jaelyn Hilliard distributed the offense with 34 assists. 


EAST TROY 3, MONROE 0

MONROE — The Cheesemakers dropped their second conference match to East Troy on Thursday, Sept. 7. The Trojans swept with scores of 25-11, 25-8 and 25-16. Courtney Hartwig, Sophie Golembiewski and Mya Wild tallied two kills each. At the service line, Hartwig and Wild notched two aces. 

In other local volleyball, New Glarus defeated Wisconsin Heights 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-14), and Darlington fell to Mineral Point 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 26-24).
