PECATONICA — The Pecatonica girls’ basketball team opened up its season with a 41-39 win over Iowa-Grant on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Had the Vikings shot better than 11-for-37 from the charity stripe, they would have easily defeated Panthers.

“Well, a win is a win,” head coach Linda Hendrickson said. “I would have never guessed we would miss 26 free throws tonight, but we did. Lots of things to work on and always room for improvement.”

The teams were knotted 17-17 at half, with the Vikings victorious in the second. Chloe Schraepfer led the team with 13 points, include two 3-pointers. She was 5-for-12 at the line. Anna Tisch was the next highest scorer with 8 points. For Iowa-Grant, Ashley Runde collected 14 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc.

The Vikings play again on Monday, Nov. 21 against Shullsburg.
