Pec rolls Albany; Barneveld topples Argyle to take full control of SRE

BLANCHARDVILLE — Pecatonica dominated the glass and paint in a 59-51 win over Albany Feb. 4 in a Six Rivers East game.

The Vikings won the battle of rebounds (32-19), points in the paint (30-16), second chance points (7-0) and points off turnovers (30-15).

Griffin Noll led all scorers with 29 points for Pecatonica. Martin Anderson had 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals.

For the Comets, Ty Durtschi had 23 points and five steals, while Kaden Zurfluh added 13 points.


Monticello 70, Juda 58

MONTICELLO — The Ponies out-scored the Panthers by six points in each half of their Six Rivers East game Feb. 4. Monticello out-rebounded Juda 37-17 but lost the turnover battle 18-11. The Ponies shot 55.6% from the field and averaged 1.12 points per possession.

Alex Roe led Albany with 21 points and four steals for the Ponies. Mason McCutchin had 16 points, while Hunter Grossen tallied 13 points and seven rebounds. Drew Freitag added nine points and six boards.

Juda’s Jayden Brown led all players with 24 points and six steals. Easton Hess hit 5 of 10 threes for 15 points, and Braydon Steinmann added 13 points for the visitors.


Brodhead 74, East Troy 63

BRODHEAD — Brody Riese had 24 points, Gabe Bockhop 21 and Cullen Walker 16 to lead the Cardinals to a Six Rivers crossover victory Feb. 4.

Brodhead led 29-24 at halftime and out-scored the Trojans 45-39 in the second half. Sebastian Scurek had a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds) to lead East Troy.

In other boys basketball action on Feb. 4, New Glarus lost to Lodi 85-68 and Argyle defeated Black Hawk 78-43. A day earlier, Argyle lost to Barneveld 80-67, giving the Eagles a 1-game lead over the Orioles in the Six Rivers East race. Both have six games left against conference opponents, and the two squads will finish off their regular season against each other on Feb. 27 in Argyle, potentially for the league title.
