Pec-Argyle, Sugar River partake in holiday tournaments

WHITEWATER — Pecatonica-Argyle had two players place at the annual Mid-States Wrestling Classic in Whitewater Dec. 28-29.

Easton Schraepfer was seventh in the 152-pound weight class, finishing 5-1 in the tournament. Schraepfer (15-4) lost in the quarterfinal to Walker VandeHey (21-4) of Wrightstown by pinfall. After a pair of wins in the consolation bracket, Schraepfer knocked off West Bend East’s Crosby Schlosser (13-5) in the seventh-place match.

At 195, Lucas Gilbertson (14-5) was ninth, going 4-2 in the tournament. Gilbertson lost 3-1 in overtime to Janesville Craig’s Mitchell Schumann (14-5) in the quarterfinal. Gilbertson then lost the fourth round match in the consolation to Nick Hanke (17-4) of Waukesha West by a 7-2 decision. Gilbertson would win his next consolation match 13-3 and then defeated Austin Bartel (15-9) of Weyauwega-Fremont 8-1.

Dawson Gross (106), Kristian Orloff (126) and Dakota Doescher (132) all went 2-2 in the tournament for Pecatonica-Argyle.


Oshkosh OTW Classic

OSHKOSH — Cade Femrite went 3-2 for Sugar River in the 138-pound weight class at the Oshkosh On The Water Wrestling Classic hosted by Lourdes High School Dec. 28-29.

The Sugar River Raiders had no place-winners.

Joe Quaglia (120), Robert Chenoweth (145), Jack Diederich (152), Holden Latsch (160), and Daniel Enloe (285) all finished the tournament with 2-2 records for the Raiders.
