MONROE — The Six Rivers East recently released its volleyball all-conference selections, where second-place teams Pecatonica, Argyle and Monticello had multiple players honored.
Brooke Wellnitz and Kylie Butler were first-team honorees for the Orioles. The pair orchestrated the offense, combining for 632 kills. Wellnitz and Butler also started strong at the service line with 88 aces and kept rallies alive with 641 digs. Wellnitz alone had a big presence at the net with 17 solo blocks and 19 assisted blocks for 36 total.
Teammate Mya McNett earned honorable mention all-conference. As the team’s setter, she had 570 assists in 1,713 attempts. She also hit the floor for 217 digs.
Lexi Wonders was selected to the sportsmanship team.
Argyle finished 8-4 in league play and fell to Pecatonica 3-1 in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal game.
Senior Loretta Tisch was the lone first-team honoree. She was an instrumental player that led the offense in kills and defense in digs. Diana Hendrickson and Madelyn Cleary earned second team. Hendrickson was another offensive force. Cleary, too, was a powerful hitter but missed the last part of the season due to injury.
Mikaela Gross, Rya Jorenby and Tatum Kurschner earned honorable mention.
Brianna Turner was named to the sportsmanship team.
The Vikings finished 8-4 in league play and fell to Belmont 3-0 in a WIAA Division 5 regional final.
Dalana Trumpy highlighted Monticello’s honorees as a first-team selection. The middle hitter was an offensive threat, alternating between a full swing, tip or push to get kills. She was also dominant at the service line.
Junior Kennadee Johnson earned second-team all-conference and made the sportsmanship team. Johnson was a versatile player, setting up the offense with assists, hitting from the outside and starting long rallies at the service line.
Seniors Madi Hauser and Sadie Wilkins received honorable mention.
Monticello finished 8-4 in league play and fell to Shullsburg 3-2 in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal.
Albany had four players recognized by the conference, led by senior Anna Ellinger as a first-team all-conference member. She led the team with 113 kills with the next highest at 56. Ellinger also had seven blocks and 194 digs.
Fellow senior Ellie Modaff earned second-team all-conference. In her final game against Black Hawk, Modaff eclipsed 1,000 career assists. She tallied 185 on the season. Modaff also registered 160 digs.
Kierra Cleasby garnered honorable mention. She had a 91.3% serve percentage and was second on the team in kills with 56. Cleasby was also one of four on the team with over 100 digs — 156.
Senior Abby Hollis, who joined volleyball late in high school, made the sportsmanship team.
Albany finished 3-9 in league play, sweeping Juda and splitting with Black Hawk. The Comets and Warriors battled in a winner-take-all game three of the season, where Black Hawk won the WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal match in five sets.
Black Hawk also had four athletes recognized by the conference. Maddy Lange and Mya Milz were second-team selections, while Hailey Wellnitz earned honorable mention. Molly Edler made the sportsmanship team.
The Warriors finished 3-9 in league play, sweeping Juda and splitting with Albany. Black Hawk fell to conference champions Barneveld in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal 3-0.
Without a win in league play, Juda had just one player earn all-conference — junior Rianna Sullivan to the honorable mention team. As one of the tallest on the team, she was a large presence at the net for the Panthers.
Juda was 0-12 in league play and fell 3-0 to conference-opponent Monticello in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal.
