JOHNSON CREEK — The Panthers suffered a 62-31 nonconference road loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Juda scored evenly in both halves (16-15) but were unable to stop Johnson Creek defensively, as Dylan Bredlow and Tanner Herman scored 21 and 16 points, respectively.
Braydon Steinmann was the only player in double figures for Juda, scoring 10 points. Erik Woodward trailed close behind with nine points, followed by Blake Adkins with six points. Micheal Hosch and Aiden Schadewalt tallied two points each, while Jayden Brown and Hunter Foster made one free throw each.
ALBANY 46, MADISON COUNTRY DAY 23
ALBANY — After giving up the opening basket, the Comets kicked it into gear for their third win of the season on Monday, Jan. 23.
Albany started the game on a 19-2 run and led by no less than 10 points for the remainder of the game. The Comets forced 24 turnovers, scoring 24 points off Madison’s mistakes.
James Schwartz led the team with 12 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. He sank his only 3-point attempt and went 3-for-5 from the charity stripe. Brayden Bakken also scored in double figures with 11 points, draining three 3-pointers with a pair of free throws. Ethan Koss (eight points) and Drew Sertle (seven points) accounted for the remaining three 3-pointers.
NEW GLARUS 59, MINERAL POINT 48
NEW GLARUS — Despite a 21-point lead at halftime, the Knights held on for an eight-point win over the Pointers on Monday, Jan. 23.
New Glarus limited Mineral Point’s first-half scoring to just three players: Luke Kisgen (nine points), Brady Radtke (two points) and Cooper Palzkill (two points). Meanwhile, the Knights sank six 3-pointers — one each from Breckyn Thompson, Max Parman, Ethan Friedrich and Brett Warrell and two from Jake Roth.
Seven other Pointers scored in the second half, putting up ten more points than the Knights. New Glarus received all but four points from AC Strok and Friedrich in the second half, as the Knights pulled out the victory.
Friedrich and Strok led the squad with 19 and 14 points, respectively. The next highest scorers were Parman (nine points) and Roth (eight points) — who had two each in the second half. At the line, the Knights were 6-for-9.
MARSHALL 67, BRODHEAD 57
BRODHEAD — Cullen Walker was the top scorer in the game, providing the Cardinals with over half of its offense, but Brodhead still dropped a nonconference game on Monday, Jan. 23.
In the first half alone, Walker scored 23 of Brodhead’s 31 points, dropping three 3-pointers. Gabe Bockhop added another three, followed by two buckets from Jaxon Dooley and a free throw from Sam Searls. While the Cardinals quieted Walker in the second half, Dooley went off for 12 points with three free throws and a basket from beyond the arc.
At the end of the game, Walker tallied 32 points, going 5-for-5 from the charity stripe with three 3-pointers. Dooley finished with 16 points, shooting 50% at the line with one three. The remaining offense came from Searls (four points), Bockhop (three points) and Aidyn Vondra (two points).
In other local boys basketball, Argyle fell to Abundant Life Christian School 71-56, Pecatonica dropped a 53-35 game to Barneveld, and ranked Darlington defeated Shullsburg 77-46.
