BENTON — Senior Molly Olson scored 21 points, including her 1,000th career point as the Albany-Monticello Space Stallions crushed the Benton Zephyrs 80-17 in a Six Rivers crossover game on Friday, Jan. 30.
Olson is averaging 14.2 points per game and shooting at a 42.1% clip.
The Space Stallions dominated with a 44-6 halftime lead. Two other players scored in double figures for AM as freshman Emersen Butts dropped in 14 points and freshman Annie Olson scored 12 points for the Space Stallions.
Albany-Monticello (18-1, 9-1) had a nonconference game scheduled on Monday Feb. 2 against the Brodhead Cardinals (15-3). AM has a Six Rivers East game scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Albany against Black Hawk.
Argyle-Pecatonica 62, Highland 43
ARGYLE — Junior Brooke Wellnitz led three players in double figures with 20 points in Argyle-Pecatonica’s 62-43 win over the Highland Cardinals in a Six Rivers Conference crossover game on Friday, Jan. 30.
Senior Kylie Butler scored 15 points and junior Avari Steiner had 12 points as the 78ers knocked down nine three-pointers in the win. AP took a 31-16 lead at halftime and held Highland’s best player, Adilynn Esser to nine points.
Argyle-Pecatonica (16-2) had a nonconference game scheduled at East Dubuque on Monday, Feb. 2. AP (10-1) will host Juda (0-10) in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Thursday, Feb. 5.
Brodhead 47, Delavan-Darien 42
BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals were looking to avoid a second straight loss while the Delavan-Darien Comets were looking to get an upset win. The Comets got a nine point halftime lead, but the Cardinals fought back and earned a 47-42 win in a Rock Valley conference crossover game on Friday, Jan. 30.
Senior Allie Dahl scored 14 of her team-leading 24 points in the second half, and freshman Ella Olson scored all seven of her points in the second half to bring the Cardinals back from a 27-18 halftime deficit. Brodhead also turned up the volume on defense, allowing the Comets to score just 15 points in the second half.
The win helped the Cardinals keep pace with Edgerton atop the RVC-Rock standings. Edgerton is 9-0 while Brodhead is 8-2 with a game at home against Edgerton on Feb. 5.
Brodhead (15-3) was scheduled to host Albany-Monticello (18-1) in a nonconference game on Monday, Feb. 2.
New Glarus 51, Cambridge 37
NEW GLARUS — Sophomore Annabelle Curl scored a career-high 20 points along with seven rebounds to lead the New Glarus Glarner Knights to a 51-37 win over the Cambridge Blue Jays in a Capitol South Conference game on Friday, Jan. 30. The win puts New Glarus one game behind Belleville and one game ahead of Cambridge in the Capitol South standings.
Junior Kalia Malaise provided the Knights with additional offense with 12 points and junior Kate Parman had 10 points as New Glarus avoided a third straight loss.
New Glarus (9-10, 3-1) continued with Capitol South action with a scheduled game against Wisconsin Heights on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Mineral Point 47, Darlington 38
DARLINGTON — The Mineral Point Pointers brought an end to the Darlington Redbirds’ three game home winning streak with a 47-38 win on Friday, Jan. 30.
The Redbirds couldn’t prevent the Pointers from winning their ninth straight game on the road. Senior Maddie Gratz guided the Redbirds with 16 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Maicy Norgard contributed six points and five rebounds for Darlington. The Redbirds fell a half-game behind the Pointers for second place in the SWAL with the loss.
Darlington (12-5, 7-3) played a nonconference game scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2 at home against River Valley. The Redbirds return to SWAL conference action on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Southwestern.
In other area girls basketball, River Ridge held off Black Hawk 42-41 in a Six Rivers crossover on Jan.. 30.
