ARGYLE — The Black Hawk-Warren Warriors scored all the points they needed to start a running clock by halftime and rolled past the Pecatonica-Argyle Vikings 48-0 in a Six Rivers Conference game on Saturday, Oct. 4. It was the Argyle High School Homecoming.
For the third-ranked Warriors, it was their second shutout of the season. For the Vikings, it was the third straight game they’ve been shutout.
Beau Podnar ran 81 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. The Warriors got four more touchdowns in the second quarter with Jacob Woodruff scoring from 10- and 26-yards out. Podnar threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Bryce VanRaalte and Trent Bidlingmaier added a 2-yard touchdown run to give the Warriors a 40-0 halftime lead. Dax Paquin ran 19 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter for the game’s final score.
The Warriors had 445 yards of total offense with 388 yards on the ground. The Warriors were led by Woodruff (7 car, 132 yds, 2 TDs) and Dax Paquin (8 car, 85 yds, TD). Pec-Argyle was led by Brock Erickson (5 rec, 43 yds) and Ashton McNett (3 rec, 24 yds).
Warriors coach Desi Breadon liked seeing his team working to improve their game.
“We tried to do a few different things on both sides of the ball to continue to make us more versatile. We are continuing to work on improving each day and week. I’m proud of our guys, especially how our backups continue the high level of play when they get their opportunities,” Breadon said.
Black Hawk-Warren (7-0, 5-0) will travel to Riverdale in Week 8 on Oct. 10, while Pecatonica-Argyle (1-6,1-4) will travel to No. 2-ranked Potosi-Cassville.
Belleville 27, Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg 6
BELLEVILLE — Senior Treyton Myers ran for a touchdown and junior Rayden Taylor passed for another to lead the Belleville Wildcats to a Week 7 win over the Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg Knights in SWAL football at Belleville on Oct. 3. Belleville’s defense held the Knights scoreless until the fourth quarter. Belleville (5-3, 5-0 SWAL) will play at Fennimore in SWAL football this Friday, Oct. 10.
Randolph 45, Parkview-Albany 0
ORFORDVILLE — The Randolph Rockets wasted no time in routing the Parkview-Albany Vikings, taking a 24-0 first quarter lead and 30-0 advantage at halftime in Week 7 on Oct. 3. The loss was the second in a row for Parkview-Albany and the first time this season the Vikings were held scoreless. Parkview-Albany (2-5, 1-4 Trailways Conference) will go on the road to face Johnson Creek on Friday.
Lancaster 56, Brodhead-Juda 18
LANCASTER — The Cardinals didn’t have an answer for the Flying Arrows who put up 304 yards passing and three touchdowns plus another 245 yards on the ground and five TDs in the Flying Arrows Week 7 SWC win at Lancaster Oct. 3. Brodhead-Juda (0-7, 0-5) will be at home this Friday, Oct. 10 to host Richland Center.
