NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus School District is excited to share an update on the continued progress of the Glarner Community Complex, a community-driven project designed to enhance facilities for students, families, and residents of the greater New Glarus area.
Phase 1 of the project, which included the installation of a new turf field and all-weather track, has been successfully completed. These additions have already provided significant benefits to school athletics, physical education, and community recreation. A sincere thank you to all who donated to make Phase 1 a reality.
The District has now turned its focus to Goal 2, which includes the construction of a new concession and bathroom building, as well as developing a community-use plaza and pavilion to further support school and community events. Fundraising for this next phase is well underway, with over $100,000 already raised through the generosity of local donors and community partners.
Thanks to close collaboration between the school administration and local contractors and architects, the District has successfully reduced the overall cost of the remaining projects to $600,000, a reflection of the community’s shared commitment to making this vision a reality.
In addition, the District is currently working with a local grant writer to apply for a matching funds grant that supports shovel-ready projects throughout the State of Wisconsin. The grant must be submitted by the end of October and requires matching funds, effectively doubling community contributions.
“This project represents what makes New Glarus special. When our community comes together, great things happen. The Glarner Community Complex is a space that will serve generations to come, and we are grateful for the continued support and enthusiasm from our families, alumni, and residents,” said Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Thayer.
Community members interested in contributing or learning more about the project can visit the official fundraising page at glarnerpride.com. Those who are interested in donating to Phase 2 of this project are encouraged to do so prior to October 31, as the donation would go towards the matching amount if the grant is secured. The District will continue to accept donations after October 31 as well.
Together, we can complete the Glarner Community Complex and create a lasting legacy for New Glarus students and families.
