NGM rolls Vikes; Cardinals rout Poynette; BH-W edges Belleville

ORFORDVILLE — The Glarner Knights improved to 3-0 on the season with a 50-19 win over Parkview-Albany, the reigning WSN Spring Football Team of the Week.

New Glarus-Monticello led 21-6 after the first quarter and 43-6 at halftime. The lead reach 50-6 in the third quarter. The Vikings scored two touchdowns in the fourth.

Darris Schuett was 16 of 21 passing for 185 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Knights. Nathan Streiff had 71 yards receiving and a TD on four catches. Jack Parman added 87 yards on five catches, and Peter Gustafson hauled in an 11-yard TD catch.

Schuett added 99 yards rushing on 8 carries, adding two more TDs. Cade Femrite had 47 yards and a TD on seven totes. 

Defensively, Streiff had eight tackles and four forced fumbles. Schuett had four tackles and two forced fumbles. Rudy Wicker added a sack. Jaylynn Benson was 2-for-4 on extra point attempts.

Jericko Schwartzlow led Parkview-Albany with 79 yards rushing and a TD on 5 carries. Korban Brown had 55 yards on 10 rushes, Charlie Vogt added 53 yards and a score on 12 attempts, and Justyce Crecelius added 18 yards and a TD on seven carries. Brown added two catches for 25 yards. Paul Keintz was 2 of 3 passing.

In Week 4, the Knights host fellow unbeaten Brodhead-Juda on April 16. Parkview (1-2) hosts Menominee Indian (0-3) April 17.


Brodhead-Juda 46, Poynette 0

POYNETTE — The Cardinals gained 294 yards on the ground and intercepted four passes en route to another stellar win this spring.

Quarterback Cade Walker connected on 4 of 6 passes in the game for 70 yards and two touchdowns — both of which came in the first quarter. Walker and Aiden Vondra connected for a 37-yard TD to open the scoring just 95 seconds into the game, and Walker and Conner Green later added a 12-yard TD pass.

Vondra then dashed 49 yards for a score to make it 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Braden Cook had a 1-yard TD run early in the second quarter, and Gage Boegli scored on runs of 6 and 25 before halftime, making it 39-0 Brodhead-Juda at the break. Cook added a 30-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Boegli finished the night with 96 yards on eight carries, while Cook had 95 yards on eight touches. Vondra finished with 65 yards on four attempts, and added 54 yards receiving on two catches.

Poynette had just 13 yards through the air on 4 of 12 passing. Brock Chadwick and Hayden Taylor combined for four interceptions. Poynette gained just 94 yards rushing on 27 attempts.

Brodhead-Juda (4-0) has collected two wins via forfeit from Deerfield and Montello/Princeton/Green Lake, and defeated Mount Horeb 33-8 back on March 27.


Black Hawk-Warren 38, Belleville 29

WARREN — The Warriors rallied from an early deficit to beat the Wildcats April 9 in Week 3.

Belleville’s Trevor Syse connected with Anthony Nolden for an 84-yard touchdown late in the first to open the scoring, but Lucas Milz put BHW on the board with a 19-yard TD run moments into the second quarter. Syse then threw a 3-yard TD pass to Patrick Samon to make it 14-6, but the Warriors responded yet ago, with Braden Bohnsack and Ryan Molitor connecting for a 22-yard score. Bohnsack then ran in the 2-point try to even the score at 14.

Right before halftime, Bohnsack and Molitor connected again on a 53-yard score to put the Warriors ahead 20-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Milz plunged forward for a 2-yard score to make it 26-14, and then added another TD from 3 yards out to put the Warriors ahead 32-14. Belleville got another touchdown on a 50-yard TD pass from Syse to Nolden, but Milz made it four scores on the night with a 2-yard rush with 2:44 remaining.

Belleville scored once more with 1:27 left in regulation on a third TD connection from Syse to Nolden, this time from 10 yards out.

Syse finished the night 17 of 35 for 249 yards, four TDs and an interception. Nolden had five receptions for 151 yards, and Carson Syse added eight catches for 92 yards. Belleville ran the ball 19 times for 71 yards.
