New Glarus High School announces 2025 Homecoming Week schedule of events

NEW GLARUS — New Glarus High School invites students, families, alumni, and community members to join in celebrating Homecoming Week 2025. A week filled with spirited competitions, athletic events, and community traditions kicks off Monday, Sept. 29, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 4.  This year’s Homecoming Theme is Safari.

New Glarus School District encourages the entire community to take part in the Homecoming celebrations. Whether cheering at games, marching in the parade, or running in the Fun Run, there’s something for everyone.


Homecoming Week Schedule

Monday, Sept. 29 — Volleybuff Game Night

The boys take the court in the annual Volleybuff showdown. Seniors vs. Freshmen and Juniors vs. Sophomores, with winners meeting in a championship match. Action begins at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Concessions will be available.


Tuesday, Sept. 30 — Full Night of Athletics

●  Sugar River Boys Soccer vs. Lakeside Lutheran at Belleville. JV kicks off at 5 p.m., varsity to follow.

●  New Glarus Volleyball vs. Marshall at New Glarus. JV at 5:30 p.m., varsity to follow.

●  Monroe/New Glarus Girls Swim Team vs. Lodi at the Green County Family YMCA in Monroe. The meet begins at 6 p.m.


Wednesday, Oct. 1 — Powderpuff Game Night

A Homecoming favorite returns at the Glarner Community Complex. The 2024 champions, the Seniors, will look to defend their title. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 3 — Parade, Tailgate & Football Game

●  Homecoming Parade begins at 3 p.m. Join the fun as floats, teams, and community groups march through New Glarus. Contact Amy Doefer if interested in a parade entry.

●  3rd Annual NG Sports Booster Tailgate at Dirty Dog TapHaus & Eatery, immediately following the parade until 6 p.m. Hoesly’s Meats brats and hot dogs, chips, a drink coupon (non-alcoholic), and a commemorative cup.

●  Homecoming Football Game — The Glarner Knights host the Prairie du Chien Blackhawks in their Week 7 SWC Conference matchup. Kickoff at 7 p.m. at The Bank of New Glarus Field.


Saturday, Oct. 4 — 2nd Annual Fun Run/Walk & Homecoming Dance

The New Glarus Homecoming Fun Run/Walk events include a 5K run, 1K kids run, and a 5K walk. The race begins at 9 a.m. To register, go to https://newglarusbasketball.sportngin.com/register/form/641724960.

The Homecoming Dance is from 7:30-10 p.m. with Grand March at 8 p.m.
