NEKOOSA — New Glarus, Argyle and Pecatonica high schools participated in the Wisconsin State High School Clay Target League (WISHCTL) state tournament June 8-9. 

Argyle and Pecatonica, competing in the smaller 1A division, had 20 kids participate at the varsity level. Pecatonica’s Tristan Olson had the highest score of 95, which was tied for 23rd. Argyle’s Grant Kuberski shot a 94, which was tied for 38th. There were 505 participants in the high gun varsity male division. In the 77-member female division, Pecatonica’s Avery Webster shot an 85 for 44th. Argyle’s Mitchell Johnsen, Braelyn Meinert, Kuberski and Pecatonica’s Talen Havens, Linden Ula and Olson had rounds of 25 straight.

St. Croix Central won the division with a team total of 483. Riverdale took second with 472, and Turtle Lake finished third with a 471.

New Glarus, competing in the larger 2A division, had 22 kids participate at the varsity level. Mason Yaun was the highest finisher, shooting a 94. That mark was tied for 14th in a division of 497 participants. In the 77-member female division, Regan Mimentz shot a 65 for 73rd. Karson Benson, Logan Ferguson, Keagan Goecks and Yaun had rounds of 25 straight.

Ashland-Washburn won the division with a team total of 475. Melrose-Mindoro took second with a 469, and River Valley finished third with a 466.

The USAHSCTL national championship will be held July 10-14 in Mason, Michigan. The event will feature over 3,000 athletes from 240 teams.
