New Argyle-Pec co-op off to slow start

ARGYLE — In its inaugural game as a girls basketball co-op, Argyle-Pecatonica fell to Belleville 52-38 on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Darlington-transfer Kylie Butler, a sophomore, did all in her power to help the Orioles win, but her 21 points were not enough. She drained three 3-pointers with five other baskets from the field. Senior Anna Tisch chipped in seven points as the team’s second-highest scorer. The Orioles finished 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.

Maddie DeSmet led the Wildcats with a double-double, scoring 11 points with 11 rebounds. Toria Devoe led all Belleville scorers with 19 points, while Addison Edge chipped in 10. The Wildcats went to the line 26 times and knocked down 21 of their attempts.

ALCS 63, JUDA 25

JUDA — The Panthers dropped their season-opener to the Challengers on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Katie Brooks led Juda with 10 points, followed by Phoenix Homan with four. Anna Bartels accounted for the only Panther 3-pointer.

Conversely, Abundant Life Christian’s top scorer was Magdalen Simon with 19 points. Megan Rockwell chipped in another 14 points, and the Challengers drained four 3s.

In other local basketball, New Glarus beat Barneveld in overtime 54-52 while Brodhead fell to Poynette 51-45.
