Nemergut leads Monroe with hat trick in 10-goal win

MONROE — After four straight losses, the Cheesemakers have gotten back on the right track. On Dec. 17, Monroe (3-5, 3-2 Badger) notched its second straight win with a 10-1 blowout win at home against Stoughton. 

The scoring started slow for the Cheesemakers, with the first goal coming more than 12 minutes into the first period. They added another in the final minute of the frame, and then scored six goals in a 7-minute stretch in the second period to pull away.

Carter Nemergut had a hat trick for Monroe, while Cam Newcomer ended the night with five total points — one goal and four assists. Patrick Alt also had four points (1G, 3A). Brady Spotts added two goals, and Brady Stuart, Brody Koehn and Brody Goode each connected with the back of the net. Goode, Stuart, Koehn, Benjamin Erdley and Landon Grindey all tallied an assist, while Hans Brandt had two assists.

Brogan Hoelscher saved 10 of 11 shots in net for Monroe, which outshot the Vikings 54-11.
