Monticello, Brodhead face early setback

BLACK EARTH — Despite a 10-2 run in the last seven minutes of the game, Monticello fell to Wisconsin Heights 67-38 on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

The Vanguards began the game on a 21-6 run and ended the first half with a 13-2 run. Although the Ponies picked up the pace in the second half, it was too late.

Ryer Indergand led Monticello with 17 points and nine rebounds, one away from a double-double. Nick Roe and Austin Skibbe added six points each. 

Jackson Eyler didn’t play due to injury.

Wisconsin Heights’ Jacob Brabender recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Cayden Kennedy was the leading scorer with 22 points.


MCFARLAND 76, BRODHEAD 64

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals suffered their first Rock Valley Conference loss on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The Spartans had a 45-29 lead after the first half, which Brodhead could not over come despite 35 second-half points of its own.

Cullen Walker led the Cardinals with 19 points, while Jaxon Dooley added another 13 points with five steals. Sam Searls was perfect from beyond the arc for nine points, and Brody Riese grabbed eight rebounds.

McFarland had three players in double figures: A. Chislom (21), D. Kulp (16) and A. Kelley (13).
