MADISON — Monroe senior Logan Taylor won the WIAA Boys 3-Point Challenge on Saturday, March 31 at the Kohl Center.
Taylor became just the second player ever to score in the 20s all three rounds.
Taylor led Division 2 in 3-point shooting this season, knocking down 49.5% (59/119) of his attempts. Pewaukee’s Tyler Tiutczenko had the highest mark in the state in Division 1 at 50.9%, while Ashland’s Jaryn Popovich led all players at 55.4%.
In order to qualify, a player needed to attempt a minimum of 100 3-pointers during the regular season. The top two players from each of the five divisions qualifies for the contest. The championship is held in the morning at the Kohl Center prior to the WIAA Division 5 state championship.
In the state games challenge, shooters have five racks of five balls along the 3-point line. Each ball is worth one point, with the final ball of the rack worth two points. Players have one minute to shoot all 25 shots.
The top four shooters based on point total advance to the semifinals, with the top two further competing in the championship.
