BELOIT — The Monroe Cheesemaker wrestlers took first place at the Turner Triple Dual on Thursday, Jan. 29. Monroe finished with 48 points. Sugar River was second with 36 points, and Turner was third with 34 points.
In a 113-pound match, freshman Madox Mau of Sugar River won over senior Nester Chagoya of Monroe with a pin in 1:20.
With Monroe facing Sugar River, at 126 pounds, junior Noah Schuh of Monroe pinned freshman Brooks Krauss of Sugar River in 3:25.
At 138 pounds, sophomore Weston Huntsman of Monroe got the fastest pin of the meet by defeating sophomore Sawyer Oberle of Sugar River in a fall in 10 seconds.
In a match at 144 pounds, sophomore Oliver Ostby of Monroe scored a major decision, defeating sophomore Maxxton Frey-Lee of Turner 13-3.
Sugar River’s Ashlin Mihlbauer, a senior, got a major decision at 150 pounds with a 13-2 win over junior Wyatt Bennett of Turner.
Freshman Bronko Baer of Sugar River got a win with an 8-3 decision at 157 pounds over sophomore Samuel Hartlaub of Turner.
At 165 pounds, senior Lukas Loshaw of Sugar River pinned freshman Dominic Wobig of Turner in 2:28.
Also at 165 pounds, senior Connor Eckdhal of Monroe pinned Wobig of Turner in 1:38.
Senior Cayson Helwig of Sugar River wrestled at 175 pounds and defeated senior Nathan Buckley of Turner in 1:10.
Three girls wrestled for Monroe. At 132 pounds, freshman Evelyn Eckdhal received a forfeit from Turner. At 152 pounds, junior Althea Eckdhal got a technical fall in 2:00 over freshman Sirenea Laursen of Turner. In the 165-pound weight class, freshman Addi Treuthardt was victorious over senior Verdabelle Davis of Turner with a fall in 1:25.
