Monroe-NG dominates Mount Horeb in dual

MONROE — The Monroe/New Glarus girls’ swim team won 10 of 12 varsity events and defeated Mount Horeb 118-52 in Badger Conference swimming at the Green County YMCA on Tuesday, Oct. 7. 

Kennedy Shunk, Chloe White, Brinlee Chapman, Kennedy Sysko, Amelia Geib, Hadleigh Shunk, Anna Zentner, and Bella Houston each swam at least one season-best time at the meet. Amelia Geib earned first in both the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:05.31 (a personal best time) and the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:12.33. 

The meet was also Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Swimmers, fans, and coaches on both teams wore pink to help spread awareness. Donations that were collected at the meet will go to Gilda’s Club in Madison, which provides emotional, social, and psychological support when someone is facing cancer.
