Monroe ends regular season with a win

WHITEFISH BAY — Senior Brody Goode scored two goals and senior Hans Brandt got a goal while senior goalie Brock Brandli stopped 40 shots to lead the Monroe Cheesemakers over Whitefish Bay 3-0 in nonconference boys hockey on Saturday, Feb. 14 to close out the regular season.

For the Cheesemakers, it was their first shutout this season. 

Goode put the Cheesemakers ahead 1-0 with a goal at 15:14 in the first period, assisted by senior Brady Stuart. After a scoreless second period, Brandt scored a power play goal assisted by senior Brody Koehn at 7:33 in the third period to give Monroe a 2-0 lead. One minute later, on another power play, Goode drilled a shot into the net assisted by senior Owen Hicks and Koehn giving the Cheese a 3-0 lead and win.

The win gave the Cheesemakers a record of 10-14 overall after going 5-8 in the Badger Conference. 

Monroe is a No. 12 seed and traveled to face No. 5 seed Waukesha North co-op in a WIAA Regional quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
