MONROE — The Cheesemakers went 1-2 in a three day stretch of Badger Conference games this week.

On May 9, Monroe defeated Sauk Prairie 5-2, then lost the following day at Baraboo 14-4. On May 11, a late rally against Fort Atkinson came up short, as the Cheesemakers fell 8-7 at home.

In the win over Sauk Prairie, pitcher Katrina Sathoff allowed just one earned run in a complete game effort. Freshman Brinley Roidt smacked a home run.

Monroe struggled at Baraboo, with Sathoff and reliever Sophie Golembiewski allowing seven runs in two-plus innings each.

Against Fort Atkinson, the Blackhawks scored in every inning but the seventh. Monroe trailed 8-3 entering their final at-bat. Kate Kundert and Roidt hit back-to-back singles to open the inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, Golembiewski singled to center to bring in a run, then Olivia Feller brought home two more with a flair. Katie Witt then doubled to left, driving in a run, but Feller was thrown out attempting to score from first to end the game.
