BEAVER DAM — In a tough Badger Conference crossover game, the visiting Cheesemakers came up one bucket short Nov. 26, falling to Beaver Dam 60-57.
Sophomore Cade Meyer led Monroe with 20 points thanks to 3-for-3 shooting from the charity stripe and hitting a 3-pointer. Meyer finished 8 of 15 from the field and snagged four rebounds and four assists, but turned the ball over six times.
As a team, the Cheesemakers turned it over 19 times but also recorded 18 assists and 34 boards.
Kade King had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Monroe — his second double-double of the season. King had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the season-opening win over Beloit Memorial Nov. 24. Max Lange and JT Seagreaves each scored seven for Monroe, while Aaron Ziolkowski had six.
Beaver Dam led 36-35 at halftime, and the two teams tightened up defensively in the second half, scoring just 46 combined points.
The Cheesemakers (1-1) were set to travel to Fort Atkinson Nov. 30 and play Lena-Winslow in a border battle game at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1. Monroe then travels to Elkhorn Dec. 4 as part of their four-game road trip in nine days.
