MONROE — The Monroe varsity co-op team shredded Monona Grove 12-4 Jan. 12 at SLICE.
The Avalanche took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission, then outscored MG 4-1 in the second to make it 7-2.
Hayden Roth and Cade Janecke each had a hat trick, with Janecke adding three assists and Roth two assists. Aidan Grey finished the night with two goals, and Cash Anderson, Roman Bauer, Nolan Bodenstein and Ryan Molitor all had goals for Monroe. Josh Haight, Nathan Ratke and Bauer each had two assists, while Carson Kuschner, Sergio Fletcher, Blaze Janecke, Anderson and Molitor each had one assist.
Jayden Johnson stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced in net. Xander Obert spent time in goal as well for Monroe, saving 9 of 11 shots.
The win came on the heels of a tie and a loss to Madison West from Jan. 7 and 9. West won 4-1 on Jan. 7, and the two teams skated to a 3-3 draw two days later.
In the loss, Molitor scored Monroe’s lone goal, and Johnson had 35 saves. In the tie, Monroe rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the second intermission. Haight had a goal and an assist. Blaze Janecke and Grey each had goals, while Roth and Cade Janecke each had an assist. Molitor had two assists. Johnson was 28-for-31 in the net.
