Monroe clipped by Edgewood 57-54

MONROE — The Cheesemakers couldn’t hang on against Edgewood Feb. 13, falling 57-54.

Monroe, which led 28-26 at halftime, got 16 points from senior Kade King and 10 from senior Michael Lange. Nick Schumacher added eight and Carson Leuzinger and JT Seagreaves each had six.

Edgewood (9-10, 5-6 Badger South) hit nine 3-pointers in the game and were led in scoring by Michael Meriggioli (18) and Michael Regnier (17). Meriggioli is committed to playing for Division III St. Olaf College next winter.

The Cheesemakers (10-10, 7-5) have two conference games remaining — a home game against Watertown (8-9, 2-9) scheduled for Feb. 15 and a road game at Milton (4-15, 1-10) Feb. 21.

Pecatonica 71, Juda 47

JUDA — The Vikings outscored the Panthers 34-18 in the first half of their makeup game Feb. 13 and cruised from there.

Colton Schraepfer scored 14 to lead Pecatonica, while Jaden Hendrickson had 13 and Zack Eaton 10. Ten different Vikings scored in the route.


Pecatonica 69, Black Hawk 61

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Vikings sought and exacted revenge on the Warriors, evening the season series at 1-1 with a win Feb. 11. The victory also kept Pecatonica alive in the conference race, sitting one game behind Barneveld. 

However, the Vikings need Black Hawk to knock off the Eagles Feb. 16 in order to force a co-championship.

Schraepfer scored 21 points to lead the Vikings, while Jaden Hendrickson (16), Bo Hendrickson (13) and Everett Johnson (11) also reached double figures. Eaton added eight.

Black Hawk led 36-34 at halftime, but the Vikings outscored the Warriors 35-25 over the final 18 minutes.


Darlington 60, Boscobel 35

BOSCOBEL — After dropping from second to fourth thanks to their first loss of the season in a nonconference game, the Redbirds got back on track with a SWAL victory over the Bulldogs Feb. 11.

Carter Lancaster scored 14 points to lead Darlington, which had 11 players score in the game. Matthew Douglas finished with 10 points, while Cade Murray had eight and Blake Whalen seven.


New Glarus 52, Belleville 37

NEW GLARUS — The seventh-ranked Knights received 21 points from Jaden Kreklow, while Zach Feller (13) and Connor Siegenthaler (12) also reached double figures in the Feb. 11 rivalry matchup.

Belleville led 27-23 at halftime, but the Knights outscored the visiting Wildcats 29-11 in the second half. 

New Glarus were scheduled to travel to Wisconsin Heights Feb. 15, and a win for the Knights would secure the Capitol South conference title. New Glarus then hosts Waterloo Feb. 18 before closing out the regular season at Poynette Feb. 21.


Argyle 44, Belmont 36

ARGYLE — The Orioles scored a nonconference win Feb. 11.

Gavin Johnson scored 11 to lead Argyle, while Connor Carius had 10 points.

The Orioles led 21-16 at halftime.

In other area action, Monticello defeated Benton 66-58 in a nonconference game Feb. 11.
