The Monroe Cheesemakers and Brodhead-Juda Cardinals competed in the eight-team Joe Clifford Badger Invite at Lake Geneva Badger High School on May 2. Monroe boys won their meet with 166.5 points. Brodhead-Juda was fourth with 84 points. In girls, the Cheesemakers finished second with 136 points and the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals girls were fourth with 87 points.
In the boys competition, Mekhi Brown of Monroe took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.75 seconds. In the boys 400 meter dash, Mavrik Plummer of Brodhead-Juda was the first place finisher with a time of 50.64 seconds. The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals were the winners of the 4x100 meter relay as the team of sophomore Grayson Arn, sophomore Cohen Henze, junior Tegan Pinnow, and senior Eric Woodward crossed the finish line in 43.94 seconds. In the boys 300 meter hurdles, Brodhead-Juda’s Nolan Bump, a junior, was second in 42.72 and Monroe junior Frank Wolf was third in 44.59. Another first place finish for Mavrik Plummer of Brodhead-Juda occurred in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:01.48. Monroe junior JyShon Broitzman captured the 200 meter dash in 23.50 seconds.
The Cheesemakers got a second-place finish from senior Padriac Houston in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:22.24. The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals picked up 10 points with their 4x400 meter relay team of Nolan Bump, Mavrik Plummer, junior Jorge Villalva, and senior Eric Woodward taking first place. The Cardinals also took first place in the boys high jump as Tegan Pinnow recorded a high jump of five feet, eight inches. Senior Seth Schmidt of Monroe was the winner of the boys long jump as he topped the field with a jump of 20 feet, 11 inches. Junior Waylon Yoder of Monroe scored a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 9.25 inches.
In girls, the Monroe Cheesemakers took home first place in the 4x800 meter relay as the team of junior Aniyah Jackson-Bey, freshman Alivia Mosher, sophomore Maryella Green, and freshman Vickie Wolf finished with a time of 10:48.93. The girls 100 meter hurdles saw sophomore Elliana Shank of Brodhead-Juda finish in second place in 16.89 seconds. Senior Ella Kranig of Monroe was third with her time at 17.77 seconds. Senior Stella Arn of Brodhead-Juda blazed to a first-place finish in the 100 meter dash. Junior Mya Wild got another first place finish for the Monroe Cheesemakers in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.49. The Cheesemakers also excelled in the 800 meter run as first place went to Alivia Mosher in 2:32.99 and in second place was Mya Wild with a time of 2:33.03.
First place in the girls 200 meter dash went to Stella Arn of Brodhead-Juda in 26.14 seconds. Vickie Wolf of the Monroe Cheesemakers earned first place in the 3200 meter run in 12:10.93. The Cheesemakers notched a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with the team of Aniyah Jackson-Bey, junior Miley Hanson, Maryella Green, and Alivia Mosher completing the relay in 4:22.18. Two area athletes finished at the top in the girls high jump. Senior Madi Brown of Brodhead-Juda was first with a high jump of four feet, 10 inches. Miley Hanson was second with a high jump of four feet, eight inches. Competing in the girls triple jump, Aniyah Jackson-Bey of Monroe was third with a triple jump of 32 feet, 8.5 inches. Junior Brynn Riesterer was third for Brodhead-Juda in the discus with a throw of 99 feet, three inches.
