Monroe boys, Janesville girls suffer weekend defeats

MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers lost to Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells 3-1 in Badger Conference boys hockey on Saturday, Dec. 13.

After going down by two goals in the first period, Monroe came back and scored on a power play goal in the third period to cut the lead to one at 2-1. 

The goal was scored by senior Hans Brandt and assisted by senior Brody Koehn and senior Brody Goode. 

Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells scored an empty net goal with 0:44 seconds left in the game to make the final 3-1.

Brogan Hoelscher made 28 saves for the Cheesemakers. Monroe (0-4) was set to travel to Stoughton for a Badger Conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

USM Wildcats 8, Bluebirds 0

MILWAUKEE — The Janesville Bluebirds could not get anything going offensively in an 8-0 loss to the USM Wildcat Co-op (University School Milwaukee) in nonconference girls hockey on Saturday, Dec. 13.

The Bluebirds had three power play opportunities but could not score on any one of them. Janesville had 14 shots on goal, but was shut out by USM Wildcat goalie Maddie Johnson. 

Micki Andrews and Hailey Rasmussen of Monroe played for the Bluebirds. Janesville (0-7, 0-3) had a home game scheduled with the Stoughton Icebergs in Badger Conference action on Monday, Dec. 15.
