Monroe boys, girls win DD double dual
track stock

The Monroe Cheesemakers competed in a double dual track meet at Delavan-Darien High School along with East Troy on April 22. The Cheesemaker boys dominated, winning 125-21, while the Cheesemaker girls win a nail-biter, 75-71. 

In the boys competition, in the 4x800 meter relay, Monroe’s team of sophomore Elijah Cook, senior Benjamin Erdley, junior Brady Keehn, and freshman Landon Smith won the race in 9:25.60. In the 100 meter dash, junior Noah Spotts took second in 11.64 seconds. The boys 1600 meter run was won by Monroe senior Padriac Houston in a time of 4:54.27. The Cheesemakers finished first in the boys 4x200 meter relay as junior Mekhi Brown, junior Will Keehn, junior Bradley Holst, and freshman Joah Wellman topped the teams from East Troy and Delavan-Darien in 1:38.57. The boys 400 meter dash belonged to junior Jy’Shon Broitzman of Monroe in 53.55 seconds. Monroe got a second place finish in the 4x100 meter relay as Brown, freshman Riley Blum, Holst, and sophomore Caleb Mazahreh completed the relay in 46.95 seconds. The Cheesemakers went 1-2-3 in the 300 meter hurdles as senior Seth Schmidt took first place in 45.24 seconds. Freshman Killian Wild was second in 47.25, and freshman Lucas Veeder was third in 52.55 seconds. 

Monroe also finished 1-2-3 in the 800 meter run as junior Tre Dammen took first in 2:00.60, sophomore Kamrin Gerber-Reamer was second in 2:01.50, and sophomore Lukas Gerber was the third place finisher in 2:03.50. Second place in the 200 meter dash went to junior Noah Spotts of Monroe in 23.69 seconds. Dammen captured another first place finish for the Monroe Cheesemakers as he won the 3200 meter run in 11:47.71. The first place finisher in the high jump was junior Frank Wolfe of Monroe with a jump of 5 feet, 8 inches. Lukas Gerber of Monroe was second with a jump of 5 feet, six inches, and Mehki Brown of Monroe was third with his high jump at 5 feet, four inches. 

In the pole vault, junior Kingston McNett took second as he cleared the bar at 9 feet, 6 inches. Senior Seth Smith finished in second place in the long jump as he jumped 20 feet, 4.5 inches. Smith won the triple jump for his effort at 42 feet, five inches. Junior Waylon Yoder was first in the shot put with a distance of 50 feet, nine inches. Yoder was also first in the discus, taking first place with a throw of 129 feet, 11 inches. 

The final results in the girls competition was much tighter, but the Cheesemakers prevailed as Monroe won the 4x800 meter relay with sophomore Maryella Green, sophomore Lyla Ritschard, junior Anna Zentner and freshman Alivia Mosher taking first place in 12:05.99. First place in the 100 meter hurdles went to Monroe senior Ella Kranig in 17.51 seconds. Lyla Ritschard got a second place finish in the 1600 meter run in 5:48.82. Monroe was second in the 4x200 meter relay as the relay team of sophomore Aridni Acosta, junior Alexis Elgin, freshman Eden Greely, and Ella Kranig completed their run in 2:03.00. Junior Mya Wild of Monroe was second in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:04.18. Third place in the 4x100 meter relay went to the Monroe Cheesemakers as Elgin, senior Ada Henderson-Lehto, freshman Althea Sweeney, and sophomore Braylee Frederich in finished 58.81 seconds.

Junior Brooke Bunker was the second-place finisher in the 300 meter hurdles, just missing out on first place by .04 of a second. Bunker’s time was 54.53 seconds. Alivia Mosher was second in the 800 meter run in 2:29.19. Freshman Vickie Wolf of Monroe took home first place in the 3200 meter run in 11:47.98. She finished ahead of freshman Kaylen Cassidy, who was second, and sophomore Nevaeh Huenefeld who finished third. Monroe’s 4x400 meter relay team placed second with Green, Mosher, Greely, and Zentner crossing the finish line in 4:30.66. Junior Miley Hanson took second place in the high jump with a jump of four feet, eight inches. Right behind her was Mya Wild with a high jump of four feet, six inches. Anna Zentner of Monroe got first place in the pole vault as she successfully cleared the bar at seven feet. Hanson secured third place in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 4.5 inches. The girls triple jump saw Braylee Frederich of Monroe with a second place finish with a jump of 31 feet, seven inches. 

Junior Kira Schmidt of Monroe was fourth in the shot put with a 24 foot, nine inch effort. Schmidt also was second in the discus with a throw of 73 feet, five inches. Sophomore Holly Carpenter was third with her throw measured at 70 feet, three inches.

Monroe competed in the Sauk Prairie Invitational on April 25 and will host a triangular against Evansville and Brodhead-Juda on Wednesday, April 30.
