PLATTEVILLE — Several area cross country teams had great success running at UW-Platteville’s Memorial Park at the Dick McKichan Platteville invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The Monroe Cheesemakers boys team took second place in the large schools division with 112 points. Brodhead-Juda was 13th (304) and New Glarus-Monticello 15th (381). In the small schools division, Albany finished in fifth place with 123 points. Darlington was eighth (181) and Belleville 10th (231).
The Cheesemakers girls team was third in the large school division with 63 points. Brodhead-Juda took seventh (217) and New Glarus-Monticello eighth (230). In the small schools division, the Darlington Redbirds took first place with 30 points. Albany was fourth (110) and Belleville eighth (209).
In the boys race in the large school division, Monroe placed three runners in the top 25: Tre Dammen (3rd overall, 15:47), Weston Huntsman (17th, 17:05), and Ace Rossing (22nd, 17:20). Mavrik Plummer was the top runner for Brodhead-Juda, placing 24th in 17:51.70. Dylan Gardner topped New Glarus-Monticello runners, finishing in 45th place in 18:36.30. For small schools, Kaleb Broughton was the top runner for Albany (6th overall, 16:55.40). Carson Biermeier led Belleville (18th, 18:11.50). Marcus Kendall led the pack for Darlington (5th, 16:50.70).
The Monroe girls had five runners in the top 20 in the large school division: Vicky Wolf (7th, 19:46), Braylin Cleary (9th, 20:02), Mary McKenzie (11th, 20:20), Aniyah Jackson-Bey (18th, 20:47) and Kaylen Cassidy (20th, 21:02). Brodhead-Juda’s top runner was Olivia Brooks (14th, 20:33.30). New Glarus-Monticello was led by Molly Olson (17th, 20:47.10). In the small schools division, the first-place Darlington Redbirds placed five runners in the top 17: Adalee Berget (4th, 19:29.30), Alaina McGowan (5th, 19:43.50), Brianna Vazquez (8th, 20:32.10), Clara Solverson (11th, 20:49.90), and Austia Stauffacher (17th, 21:55.00). The top runner for Albany was Emerson Butts (9th, 20:36.71). Olivia Fox (27th overall, 22:54.10) led Belleville.
