MONROE — The 2024-25 girls basketball season is underway in Wisconsin. On opening night, Nov. 19, area teams in action included Monroe, Albany-Monticello and Juda.
Monroe 52, Benton 43
MONROE — For the second straight year, Monroe won its season opener by less than ten points. This season, the Cheesemakers defeated Benton, pulling away in the second half.
The teams went into halftime knotted at 24, but Monroe outscored the Zephyrs 28-19 in the second stanza.
Albany-Monticello 71, Marshall 26
ALBANY — Abby Hollis scored a game-high 29 points as the defending state champion Space Stallions opened the 2024-25 season with a smashing nonconference victory Nov. 19.
Hollis scored 20 of her points in the first half and hit nine 3-pointers in the game. Dalana Trumpy and Heidi Olson each scored 12 points.
The Space Stallions were 6-for-8 from the line and hit 11 total 3s. They led 46-15 at halftime.
In other area basketball action, Madison Abundant Life-St. Ambrose defeated Juda 64-22 on Nov. 19.
