Monroe 11th at Sauk Prairie Invitational

PRAIRIE DU SAC — The Monroe Cheesemakers finished in 11th place at the Sauk Prairie Invitational golf meet at Lake Wisconsin Country Club on Tuesday, April 7. The Cheesemakers shot a 353 for the tournament.

Senior Brock Brandli was 13th overall with an 81. Senior Hans Brandt fired a 90. Senior Brady Stuart shot a 94. Junior Troy Spotts had an 88. Junior Grant Ula finished with a 94.

The Cheesemakers were slated to compete in the Hartford Invitational on Friday, April 10.

AP 5th, DHS 11th at Dodge-Point Invite

DODGEVILLE — Argyle-Pec shot a team score of 355 to place fifth at the Dodge-Point Invitational golf meet on Saturday, April 4. Junior Avari Steiner led the team shooting a 78 which tied for third place in the tournament. Senior Cohlman Schlimgen carded an 86. Cuba City-Southwestern won the event with a team score of 322.

The golf meet was played in chilly and windy conditions.

“Wow, it was brutal,” said Argyle-Pec coach Chuck Chandler. “Temps is the high 30s with 20 mph wind. We also had ice pellets fall a couple times during play. For Avari to shoot a 78 was a really good score.”

Chandler added that he didn’t think too many kids, if any, would break 80 — but several did.

“We had two kids playing in their first varsity event so it was a learning experience for them. Golf is hard enough in perfect conditions. Good luck shooting a low score in those conditions as a rookie to varsity golf,” Chandler said.

Darlington finished in 11th place in the 14-team tournament with a 378. Sophomore Tavin Brunkow led the Redbirds with an 89.

Brodhead 6th at Mini Meet

EVANSVILLE — The Brodhead Cardinals finished in sixth place at the Rock Valley Conference Mini-Meet in high school golf on Tuesday, April 7 at the Evansville Golf Course. Edgerton won the meet with a 153.

The Cardinals overall shot a 219. Junior Avery Rufer and Maddax McGinty led Brodhead with a 53 each, good for 22nd place. Right behind was junior Landen Malcook in 24th place with a 54. Junior Josiah Blum was 29th with a 59 and sophomore Aiden Arn was 30th with a 65.
