The Monroe-New Glarus swim team took first place at the Sept. 13 Lodi Invitational.

LODI — The Monroe-New Glarus swim team took first place at the Lodi Co-op Swim Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Cheese Knights had 13 swimmers who achieved at least one season-best times and every swimmer scored points for Monroe-New Glarus.

Megan Chapman delivered a strong performance, swimming season-best times in all her events and dropping time from previous meets this season. She won all of her individual events and continues to be a consistent and reliable performer for the Cheese Knights. The backstroke trio of Hadleigh Shunk, Kennedy Shunk, and Kennedy Sysko all dropped time in their races. Hadleigh won the 100 Back and 200 IM.

Brinlee Chapman had an outstanding meet, dropping eight seconds in the 200 Free and 10 seconds in the 500 Free. Her 200 Free time was faster than her performance at last year’s conference meet.

Bella Houston had a strong finish and achieved a lifetime best time in the 100 Fly. Chloe White (100 Free) and Piper Faber (100 Fly) both swam impressive 100 races, the coaches said, each dropping the seconds in their races. Lauren Zentner had a strong finish in the 100 Free and achieved a milestone of breaking the one-minute mark.

Monroe-New Glarus (1-0 Badger Conference) was to compete at Edgewood on Sept. 16.
