Monticello-New Glarus Rolls Past Pecatonica 13-3
Molly Olson went 5x5 and Heidi Olson hit an inside-the-park home run, leading the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies to a 13-3 win in six innings over the Pecatonica Vikings in a Six Rivers conference game on April 29. After taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning, a triple by freshman Malorie Miller and a single by sophomore Rayna Vogel helped the Ponies extend their lead to 7-0 in the second. The Vikings pulled to within 7-3, but in the fifth inning, Heidi Olson hit a 3-run inside-the-park home run, a high drive that reached the fence in right-center, allowing Olson to circle the bases and make it 10-3.


Miller earned the win pitching for the Ponies. The right-hander surrendered six hits and three runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none. Sophomore Aleah Harris went 2x3 with two RBIs for Pecatonica. Senior Diana Hendrickson started for the Vikings and pitched five innings, allowing 10 runs on five hits. She struck out four and walked six. With the conference win, Monticello-New Glarus improved to 7-3 in the conference and 9-3 overall. Pecatonica dropped to 3-6 in the conference and 3-9 overall. On May 1, the Vikings hosted River Ridge while the Ponies traveled to Potosi-Cassville for Six Rivers games.


Trumpy Hits For The Cycle As Monticello-New Glarus Beats Barneveld
Senior Dalana Trumpy hit for the cycle and drove in seven runs to help the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies overcome a 3-0 deficit and capture a 15-3 come from behind win in five innings over the Barneveld Golden Eagles in Six Rivers Conference softball on April 28. Trumpy scored three runs and added a stolen base in a game in which she accounted for 10 total bases. Freshman Mallory Miller also homered for the Ponies. Pitcher Heidi Olson had a double and four RBIs as Monticello-New Glarus got seven runs in the second, four in the third, and four in the fourth. Barneveld had been 8-0 against Monticello-New Glarus since 2021 and outscored the Ponies 80-1 during that span.
