MONROE — The Monroe-New Glarus swim team lost to one of the state’s top teams in a dual meet Sept. 24, falling to Edgewood 106-64.

“The team had a solid meet against a very strong competitor,” MNG coach Kendra Kalvin said. “We are right on track for where we would like to be at this point.”

The Cheesemakers received first-place swims from Morgan Erstad (200-meter freestyle, 2:14.56) and Karley Michels (100-breaststroke, 1:19.62).

“Karley Michels went a personal best in meters in the 100-breast, and Morgan Erstad had an impressive race in the 200-free,” Kalvin said.

Finishing in second place for Monroe-New Glarus were Mekenzie Hammer in the 200-IM (2:30.86) and the 100-butterfly (1:08.95), and Francesca Schiro in the 100-free (1:03.37). MNG was second in the 400-free relay (4:22.41), the 200-free relay (2:00.99), and the 200-medley relay (2:10.56).

The MNG junior varsity won 81-37, with Elsa Schaefer breaking a JV record in the 100-breaststroke (1:28.00), according to Kalvin.
