Milton walks-off Monroe; Argyle dominates SW

MILTON — After falling behind early, the Cheesemakers rallied to tie up Milton 3-3 after five innings. Two frames later, however, the host Red Hawks scored on a walk-off single with one out in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3.

Milton opened the game with three runs in the bottom of the first. Monroe then scored a run in the second, third and fifth innings to knot it up.

Sloane Ambrose led the charge for Monroe, finishing the game 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Sophie Golembiewski had a hit, a run and an RBI, while Karis Paulson had a hit, a walk and a score from the leadoff position. Sydnee Conway and Katie Witt each had hits for Monroe.

Katrina Sathoff threw 6.1 innings in the pitcher’s circle for the Cheesemakers. She struck out two and gave up just two earned runs on seven hits and six walks. The Cheesemakers made five errors behind her.


Argyle 10, Southwestern 0

ARGYLE — Grace Ganshert struck out 15 while allowing just one hit and one walk in the Orioles’ route of the Wildcats April 5.

Ganshert added a double, a triple and a walk at the plate, scoring twice with three RBIs. Jenny Helfvogt was also 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Megan Johnson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Mya McNett and Maggie Godfrey each scored twice. McNett also stole three bases.


Riverdale 15, Pecatonica 9

MUSCODA — The Vikings lost a nonconference game April 5.

Sam Ihm had a double and three RBIs for Pecatonica, while Trinity Gruenenfelder had two hits from the leadoff position. Chloe Schraepfer scored three times for Pecatonica, with Tessa Green scoring twice. Schraepfer was lit up on the mound, allowing 15 hits and 11 runs (five earned), with four walks and two hit batters. She struck out four in 4.2 innings. Diana Hendrickson pitched the final 1.1 innings for Pecatonica, which committed seven errors in the game.

Riverdale led 3-1 after two innings and 8-4 after three. The Vikings scored three runs in the fourth to pull within a run, but Riverdale added seven runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away.


Boscobel 15, Darlington 1

BOSCOBEL — The Redbirds struggled against one of the regions better teams in an April 5 showdown.

Boscobel put up a 5-spot in the second inning to go ahead 6-0 early on, and an 8-spot in the fourth made it 15-1.

Sophie Wiegel took the loss for Darlington, allowing 12 earned runs in 3.1 innings of work. Josie Thomas got the last two outs of the fourth inning.

Darlington, meanwhile, was held to just two hits in the game. Cayla Golackson doubled and scored on a single from Wiegel in the top of the fourth.


Riverdale 11, Darlington 1

MUSCODA — On April 4, the Redbirds fell behind 10-0 after three innings and couldn’t recover in a loss to Riverdale.

The Redbirds had just three hits in the game, with Wiegel scoring the only run in the top of the fourth, with Josie Thomas collecting the RBI. Wiegel took the loss on the mound, allowing nine runs (four earned) in 2.2 innings of work. Thomas pitched the final 1.1 for Darlington.
