ORFORDVILLE — The Space Stallions have continued galloping across the galaxy (and in-state opponents). On Dec. 27, Albany-Monticello (10-0)rolled Parkview 87-23. AM senior Dalana Trumpy entered the game needing to score 20 points to reach the career milestone mark of 1,000, and she hit the number in the second half. Trumpy finished the night with 23 points to lead the Space Stallions.
Abby Hollis, who earlier this season also eclipsed the career 1,000-point threshold, finished with 18. Karlee Wilkins added 15, while Anna Ellinger chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Space Stallions, defending WIAA Division 5 state champions and ranked No. 2 this season in D5, led 57-13 at halftime and had 19 steals and 49 rebounds. All but one of the 10 AM players scored at least a basket.
AM’s next big test is Thursday, Jan. 2 at home against 7th-ranked Belmont (4-1) in a Six Rivers crossover game.
AP rolls at Marshall invite
MARSHALL — Argyle-Pecatonica, ranked sixth in the most recent WBCA Division 4 poll, rolled Merrill and Poynette at the Marshall invitational Dec. 27-28.
On Dec. 27, AP (10-0) rolled to a convincing 81-26 victory over Merrill. Individually, Brooke Wellnitz and Kylie Butler each outscored their opponents. Wellnitz had 29 points (with 22 rebounds), while Butler tallied 28 points (and 11 steals). Loretta Tisch added 14 for AP, which did most of its work inside with 34 two-point buckets. Wellnitz finished two steals shy of a triple-double.
Against Poynette, Butler scored 27 points, while Wellnitz and Ava Steiner each added 13 in a 71-51 victory. AP led 35-27 at halftime.
