MILTON — The Red Hawks struck down the Cheesemakers in short order, finishing with a 25-5, 25-8, 25-14 sweep Aug. 30.
“Not much to say about this loss,” Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. “We didn’t show up, we lacked communication and we were slow to react. We played defeated.”
Zoee Pond and Lexi Davis each had four kills for the Cheesemakers (0-2 Badger South). Lily Frehner dished out 11 assists, Makayla Harrow had a block, Pond led the team with two aces, Davis had three digs and Brianna Seagreaves added two digs.
“We are a better team than we displayed. We could have played much more competitively — not saying we would have won the match, but at least we would have left the court knowing we gave it our all,” Witt said. “But that didn’t happen. Not something we, as a team, want to see repeated. So, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and get back to work.”
Monroe hosted Beloit Turner in a nonconference match Tuesday and hosts Madison Edgewood Thursday.
