MHS ends conference season with back-to-back losses

MONROE — The Cheesemakers concluded their Rock Valley Conference regular-season schedule with losses to Edgerton, 3-2, and Big Foot-Williams Bay, 2-0. Gavin DeNure and Kayleb Escobedo scored goals against the Crimson Tide.

Evansville won the league with an undefeated 7-0-0 record. BFWB, Delavan-Darien and Edgerton tied for second with 4-1-2 records. Whitewater finished fifth at 2-4-1, while Jefferson and Monroe tied at 1-5-1. East Troy was at the bottom of the pack with a 0-6-1 mark.

The league tournament is scheduled for Oct. 15 and 17, with WIAA regional quarterfinals beginning on Oct. 22.


SUGAR RIVER 7, COLUMBUS 0

BELLEVILLE — Entering their Capitol Conference contest against the Cardinals on Oct. 8, the Raiders averaged just 1.3 goals per game. Sugar River blew that average out of the water for its best offensive performance of the season with seven goals.

Drew Brueggemann had a hat trick, scoring two goals in the first half and two in the second. Nathan Hendrickson made a statement, scoring his first goal 12 seconds into the game. His second came 12 minutes into the second half. Tikeh Tazeh had one goal and one assist. Dylan Brooks tallied two assists. Clayton Streiff played all 80 minutes in net with one save.
