MHS dominates Badger South all-conference

MONROE — The Cheesemakers had seven softball players honored as all-conference in the Badger South this season.

Senior Olivia Bobak and sophomore Sydney Updike were each first team selections. Both players repeat as first team players.

Senior outfielder Hailey Betthauser, junior first baseman Grace Tostrud and sophomore catcher Kate Hayes were second team picks. Freshman outfielder Sloane Ambrose and sophomore second baseman Alyse Maurer were honorable mention.

The Cheesemakers finished in a tie at the top of the conference with Watertown.

Watertown finished with six players honored as all-conference picks, while Edgewood, Oregon, Milton and Fort Atkinson each had five players selected.


Darlington scores a pair for all-SWAL

DARLINGTON — Redbird seniors Lucy Heinberg and Bethany McDonald capped their softball careers with first-team all-conference selections in the SWAL.

While Darlington didn’t finish with the amount of wins it had hoped for, Heinberg and McDonald consistently drove the offense with base hits and doubles.

League champion Mineral Point had five players honored, while Cuba City had six. Mineral Point’s Morgan James was named SWAL Player of the Year, and Pointers coach Quinn Schutz was named coach of the year.


Two Knights honored

NEW GLARUS — The Capitol South Conference recently released its all-conference team for softball, and junior Zoe Moen and senior Faith Bump received second-team nods.

Waterloo senior Kaitlyn Filter was the league’s Player of the Year, and Wisconsin Heights senior Tayler Kramer was the Pitcher of the Year.

Wisconsin Heights had four first-team selections and two second-teamers. Belleville had five total picks, as did Cambridge.
