McIntyre 21st; Redbirds 9th, NGM 13th

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The New Glarus-Monticello boys team finished 15th in the WIAA Division 2 boys state race at The Ridges Golf Course Nov. 2, while Brodhead-Juda’s Madelynn McIntyre was 21st in the girls race. In Division 2, the Darlington girls took ninth.

In the D2 girls race, McIntyre, a junior finished with a time of 19:49.7, 90 seconds behind state champion Kayci Martensen of Southwestern-Benton-Cuba City (18:19.9). Martensen, a sophomore, won the race by over 30 seconds, with Two Rivers sophomore Anna Gallagher coming in second (18:50.6).

Darlington’s girls team was ninth in scoring. Oshkosh Lourdes was the team champion.

Sophomore Judith Meister was the first Redbird to cross the finish line, taking 33rd overall (20:52.6). Freshman Ashlynn Norgard was 61st (21:13.2), two spots ahead of junior teammate Morgan Black (21:14.3). Allyson Meyers, a sophomore, was 91st (22:03.1) and senior Maddie Crist finished 118th (23:01.2). Senior Gracie Douglas and sister Brooke Douglas, a junior, finished back-to-back at 136 and 137. Gracie had a time of 23:39.6, while Brooke crossed the end line four seconds later (23:43.7).

The Glarner Knights, racing in the state meet for the second time in three years, were led by junior Joe Quaglia, who was 68th overall and 42nd in team scoring with a time of 17:27.6. Junior Conor McCoy was 106th overall (17:57.6), with fellow junior Ty Ready right behind (109th, 17:59.2) and senior Adam Nelson 119th (18:08.0). Sophomore Evan Guenther was 122nd overall (18:13.6), with sophomore Brayden Ryan 133rd (18:24.8) and freshman Tom Nelson 149th (19:36.4).

Shorewood’s Lucas Florsheim (15:58.8) the individual champion. Valders was the team champion.
