MCFARLAND — Despite five individual and two relay winners, the Monroe-New Glarus swim team fell to McFarland 90-79 on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Megan Chapman led the Cheesemakers with two individual first-place finishes in the 200-yard free (2:04.14) and 500-yard free (5:31.38). She was also part of the winning 200-yard free relay (1:47.12) and 400-yard free relay (3:54.97) with Riley Hoesly, Anna Zentner and Delaney Lynch. Hoesly, Zentner and Lynch also had their own individual wins.
Zentner took first in the 200-yard IM (2:24.33), followed by teammate Amelia Geib in second (2:26.53).
Lynch and Hoesly took first (1:05.34) and second (1:07.46), respectively, in the 100-yard fly. Hoesly’s first-place occurred in the 50-yard free (26.85).
Maggie Piper added to MNG’s total, participating in three relays. She combined with Piper Faber, Amalia Morrison and Geib for a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (2:07.84). As the final leg, Morrison had the fastest split at 28.99.
Piper also took fourth in the 400-yard free relay (4:21.27) and 200-yard free relay (2:00.69). Instead of Morrison, the three from the 200-yard medley relay worked with Kristina Foley. Morrison stepped back in for the 200-yard free relay with Piper, including Danika Doll and Alexis Elgin.
Individually, Piper finished second in the 100-yard breast (1:23.03).
The Cheesemakers’ lone third-place finish came from Lynch in the 200-yard free (2:10.95).
Foley, Doll and Elgin combined with Brinlee Chapman in the 200-yard medley relay for fourth (2:26.51). Elgin had the fastest time at 29.66 to finish the race.
Individually, Doll took fourth in the 100-yard free (1:03.95), while Faber took fourth in both the 200-yard free (2:17.78) and 500-yard free (6:09.06).
The junior varsity also lost by a score of 17-41.
Monroe-NG travels to Baraboo on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for another dual.
