Magical season continues for Monroe co-op

MONROE — The magical season for the Cheesemakers continued with a 5-2 win over Chequamegon/Phillips/Butternut Dec. 28 at SLICE. It is the 10th win of the year in 11 tries for the Monroe co-op.

Both teams played through a scoreless first period, then in the second CPB scored less than three minutes in. Monroe answered as Cade Janecke sent a pass from Hayden Roth into the back of the net with under six minutes left in the frame. Less than two minutes later Logan Roth made it 2-1 Monroe off assists from Seth Brandt and Roman Bauer.

CPB tied it at 2-2 just 3:29 into the third period, but less than three minutes later Ryan Molitor gave Monroe a 3-2 lead. Seth Lindsay and Luke Kuberski each assisted. Molitor added another goal with less than five minutes to play off passes from Jared Dillon and Kuberski. Logan Roth added a final goal with just two and a half minutes to play with assists coming from Sam Pecoraro and Payton Stauffacher.

Heath Bear had 24 saves in net for Monroe. The Cheesemakers outshot CPB 69-26. There was just one penalty in the contest as well, with Dillon whistled for a 2-minute minor on interference in the first.
