Local trio play final high school basketball games in Wis. Dells

WISCONSIN DELLS — Seniors Carver Fitzsimons (Darlington), AC Strok (New Glarus) and DeMarcus Conner (Belleville) represented southern Wisconsin in the 41st Annual WBCA All-Star Games on Thursday, June 29. 

In the Division 4 game, Fitzsimons’ and Conner’s blue team fell 123-101. After the first quarter, the team trailed 22-17. The two teams scored 26 points each in the second quarter, but the white team pulled away in the second half, outscoring the blue team 38-31 in the third quarter and 37-27 in the fourth quarter.

Fitzsimons scored 11 points, eight of which came in the fourth quarter. Conner, on the other hand, scored seven points with two baskets and a 3-pointer.

Fitzsimons was a First-Team All-Conference member in the SWAL and received Honorable Mention All-State. He averaged 15 ppg. He will attend UW-Platteville in the fall.

Conner was a First-Team All-Conferece member in the Capitol South, averaging 12.6 ppg. He will attend Ripon College in the fall.

In the Division 3 game, Strok’s white team prevailed 121-113. The two teams ended the first quarter tied a 36, and after a second quarter of play, the blue team had a slim 66-65 lead. The white team responded in the second half, outscoring the blue team 27-23 in the third quarter and 29-24 in the fourth quarter.

Strok scored seven points from a 3-pointer and pair of baskets.

Strok was the Capitol South Conference Player of the Year, averaging 17 ppg. He will continue his basketball career at Edgewood College in the fall.
